The Japanese public television channel NHK broadcast the competition and invited skateboarder Ryo Sejiri as a commentator. I will write about a Japanese skateboarding commentator who did a good job and caught the attention of many Japanese people. Seijiri spoke with Taisei Kurata, a commercial television host, during the broadcast of the Olympics by the broadcasting consortium. Kouhai could address his senpai by saying ス体 to show his respect and sympathy at the same time. Sejiri was no ordinary commentator, but he was very passionate and very “street” and brought a breath of fresh air to the Olympic broadcasts. For example, in a Japanese sports club at school, age plays an important role. I think this is because the relationship between 後輩 and 先輩 is much looser or non-existent in new sports like skateboarding, while in sports like baseball it is almost militaristic. Sejiri, however, used ス体 for his junior, which was new, according to the professor. More words and expressions to be cool!
