Many teachers are afraid of phones in the classroom, but they are powerful computers that allow students to connect to online learning resources and find out what they want, when and where they want it. Perhaps the greatest skill for today’s students is a sense of responsibility, to consider the needs of any task or career that interests them, and to find ways to acquire the skills that will allow them to do so. It’s a mistake to think so, but at the same time we recognize that today’s students understand what they need to know and how they would like to know more. But as hard as it may be to imagine that we simply open and close doors and push buttons, a 50-year-old elevator device will have a hard time imagining much of today’s work. Today students are often called clients, which means that the relationship between a student and a teacher is nothing but a business. Today, it has never been so easy for students to find the information they need. Today’s students are born digital. And again, we cannot imagine the work that our students will get in the coming years. Fortunately, it is not hard to imagine what kind of education our students will bring there.
