Pearson English – Harry Waters one of the living classroom

Harry Waters, one of the living classroom teachers, says in his article about the course, “With so many indoor locations around the world, it was a great way for students to connect with each other in a dynamic, multicultural classroom, all from the comfort of their own homes.” Our winning project, Pearson and the BBC’s Living Classrooms Project, brings together high school teachers and students from around the world. They learn, respond, and participate in a global community of language learners and can communicate with the teacher and other students through dialogue and other online tools such as surveys, Mentimetro, and Padlet. This approach builds on the principles of face-to-face learning, but takes into account the digital tools required for distance learning and the various forms of interaction available online. With two billion people learning English in 2020, it’s a challenging year, big and small. When schools around the world closed their doors and millions of teachers first learned online, we looked for ways to help them. This year, we also updated and expanded the portal and our digital toolkit to make learning and distance learning easier. Not only did we have three nominations in different categories, but our team was proud to have ELTon win the Innovation in Learning Resources category with the Pearson Project and BBC live performances. At the end of the year, we would like to thank all the students and teachers around the world who are committed to change and working hard to make education a priority. Teachers enroll their students in classes with as many as 450 students from around the world. This podcast is part of our new Pearson English Experiences project, which provides a new perspective on learning. From acquiring new skills to applying new teaching and learning methods, teachers around the world are challenged. Each classroom combines a safe online space and authentic resources with a culturally enriching learning experience. In many ways, he was ahead of his time, promoting live online education before it was imposed on the general public.
