This isn’t the first time a Pokémon game has been released on arcades either, but looking at the various Pokémon arcade games over the years, none of them have had an official North American release. I’ve been a lifelong video game fan and have been running my own arcade, The Game Grid Arcade in West Valley City, Utah, since 2008. That’s all for now. Before publishing this article, I contacted Play Mechanix and they told me how the game is progressing: “Minecraft Dungeons Arcade is well established in testing. The official Minecraft blog recently gave us the first look at the highly anticipated Minecraft Dungeons Arcade from Play Mechanix, Raw Thrills, Microsoft Game Studios and Mojang. A giant button for each player is simply to buy a map; the dashboard also says you can “scan maps to switch gears at any time.” If someone doesn’t take out a card, an error message appears on the screen telling you it’s blocked, but just takes the card out of the slot. The cards are used for “team customization,” where you get a card from the machine that you can insert into the scanner to unlock various items such as weapons, ranged weapons, armor, pets, and player skin. There will be 60 cards available as part of Series 1, which also means that depending on the success of the game, more series may of course be released. If you missed the story, you can read it here; in short, this is a special and exclusive upgrade to the console version of Minecraft Dungeons, adapted to the needs of the arcade environment. The Chinese people’s commitment to the strict measures they have imposed has allowed them to celebrate a precipitous reduction in new cases and deaths, much earlier than in the rest of the world. Quarantine and widespread social isolation caught up with millions of people and led to mental decline and economic disruption. Even when the virus returns, as before, people are quickly quarantined and new facilities are created to contain it again. However, the Chinese government and people have managed to keep the virus within their borders. Almost everyone has a smartphone app that shows if they have been in an infected area, and you have to show it to enter many office buildings, shopping malls and tourist sites.
