October has just begun, and as we enter the last quarter of the year, a major arcade tournament is taking place-the 14th annualBig This event coincides with the launch of a new game that should appeal to family game lovers. Indeed, Play Mechanix has teamed up with Skillz to launch Big Buck Hunter Marksman on iOS and Android devices. I downloaded the app and tried to play it today, but it refused to give me a verification code to continue, so I have to keep trying.It’s also rife with an absurd amount of ads, which I hope will be reduced when they fix the bugs, but that also seems to be part of the verification problem because when it loads that part, it freezes and shows me ads instead. I’ve been a lifelong video game fan and have been running my own arcade, The Game Grid Arcade, in West Valley City, Utah since 2008. This makes the BBWC the largest arcade competition in the world, highlighting the power of arcades in the cybersports space. For 2021, the schedule for the 14th annual World Championship is the same as for 2020, with all qualifying matches moved from 2020 to 2021. This year, qualifying matches were held on all Big Buck Hunter Reloaded machines to determine the top 128 players from around the world. With a total prize pool of over $125,000 to be drawn during the season, 2021 should be an explosive year for Big Buck Hunter. It would be a great opportunity to visit Raw Thrills headquarters, as well as several other arcade manufacturers and, of course, Galloping Ghost Arcade. The event had to be canceled last year, but will now be held in Rosemont, Illinois at Joe’s Live. The 2021 Championship begins Friday, Oct. 1, and continues Saturday, Oct. 2. Our biggest Big Buck fight comes home and invades Joe’s Live in Rosemont, Illinois. We will bring together 64 top players and 64 wildcards for an amazing two-day competition.
