English Benchmark Young – The English Benchmark Young

The English Benchmark Young Learners Emulator is an application that, once installed, allows teachers and students to take the test using a computer. The English Benchmark Young Learners Emulator now makes the test fun – and easy – for even more young students and teachers. Because the test tracks spoken language, it is important that students take the English Benchmark Young Learners test in a quiet, distraction-free environment. Students’ progress and learning can be closely monitored, and test scores – which correspond to CEFR and GSE scales – are used to determine when young students are ready to take higher-level English exams. The free software allows students to take the test from a laptop or desktop computer. This gives teachers more options for measuring English proficiency in a fun and stress-free way. We are pleased to announce the launch of the English Benchmark Young Learners emulator. English Benchmark Young Learners assesses speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Previously, English Benchmark Young Learners was only compatible with tablets. Want to know more? Visit the English Benchmark Young Learners page. The English Benchmark allows teachers to measure students’ English proficiency at the beginning of the school year. Pearson is committed to making the entire assessment process as simple and transparent as possible for you, your students and parents. It’s available for each of the six grades, and there’s also a “light” version that doesn’t require downloading test data, but requires a reliable, uninterrupted Internet connection. Otherwise, nothing changes from the tablet version of the test, and the administration and scoring by teachers are identical. There are sample messages for parents and a parent guide with step-by-step instructions on how to register that can be shared with parents or guardians of young students. Interactive activities and game-like graphics are used to motivate students ages 6-14 to participate in the assessment. We also provide support to help teachers connect with parents who need to take the test at home.
